Thursday: CXWORX 30 minute core class and 25 minutes on elliptical

Today is the first day of summer vacation for our school! I get to take it easy today and have a marching band rehearsal tonight. I was able to go to bed early and wake up around 8:30 today. I met my friends Amy and Steph for a new CXWORX class at Gold’s gym this morning. CXWORX is created by the same company that does BodyPump and has a similar layout but emphasizes on core movements and only uses resistance bands and one weight for ab crunches. It was definitely tough for me because I haven’t done much lately and there were lots of planks. I could still do all of it but I was sweating! I’m always excited to know what songs Les Mills will use for their playlists for the different releases of classes. Our gym was following CXWORX 6 (I think) and had a few good songs. One I am absolutely loving lately is David Guetta/Sia – Titanium. I love her voice!
Also, Pitbull’s Pause is always a good one…
After the class, I went for something I haven’t done in probably over a year… the elliptical!!
One of my friends hired a personal trainer and has lost 10 lbs in about a month and a half! She looks fantastic and was telling me all about her meal plan and exercise plan the other day. She meets with her trainer twice a week for weights and then does the elliptical the rest of the week. She was telling me about the intervals she does, how tough it is and how much she sweats! I thought I would give it a try today and I was dead tired. I would go a comfortable/medium effort for 2 minutes, then go as hard as I could for 30 seconds. I made it 20 minutes and I was SO TIRED. I did 5 more minutes to cool down and was a sweaty mess. I’m sure I’ll be sore tomorrow between the class and the different muscles I used on the elliptical.

I just went back to the YMCA this week and took the class that I used to teach before getting pregnant and having the baby. It is a cardio interval class. I am looking forward to fall to be able to teach it again. Love trying new classes!
I am planning to check out Zumba next week – have you done that?
