I’ve had a very busy week, but still managed to fit in some workouts and ran some miles. Here are some pictures from last weekend’s 5 mile race.
Amy came to see me run :) Her foot is healing and she has been able to run! We need to workout together again because it helps us stay on track!
Start of the race and there were about 400 people at this local race. I love this race but forgot that the course was kinda hilly in some spots. I was happy even though I was battling a sinus infection that week.
Tired but very happy after the race. I had just finished and my Dad took a picture right away. I’m planning on trying to build up my weekend runs each week and do 6 tomorrow. There is a 1/2 marathon in December I’m planning on signing up for and I need to run more often!
I ran the White Rose 5 Miler on Saturday! I LOVE this 5 mile race and did it in 2010 and 2011. I was a little nervous since I haven’t been running as much as I should, and I’ve had a sinus infection. It went very well and I actually think it was almost the same exact time as my 2010 race! I’ll have to compare once the official times are up.
Perfect weather (I didn’t wear the sweatshirt in my before race pic) and I wore my prescription sunglasses :) I’ll post more about the race once I get my race pics from my Dad! I had a great time and I really want to do another race soon. I taught BODYPUMP yesterday afternoon with some soreee legs but I was fine. I’ve been stretching my hamstrings a lot. I’ve been wearing my compression socks!
I also made an awesome dinner last night and wanted to share. It was SO easy but tasted so good. I’ve never cooked scallops before because they intimidate me. This risotto was very good and it came with a seasoning packet to add to the rice. I found it in the organic aisle. For the scallops, I added vegan butter to a very hot hot pan. I dried the scallops with a paper towel, added salt and pepper and put them in the pan. 3 minutes on one side and 2 minutes on the other. Perfect!
After my hamstring drama, I was ready to kick it in with my running. I ran 5 awesome miles last weekend and I think it was because of the perfect running weather!
I had gotten a little off-track from my mini training plan to prepare for next Saturday’s 5 miler. This past week was tough. I had so much to do at work and would get home late and exhausted. I ended up taking Monday/Weds/Thurs off. I was feeling really horrible about it, but I just needed it. I decided to make up for it on Friday and Saturday.
Friday I ran 2 miles on the treadmill before teaching BODYPUMP. I hadn’t been to the gym in awhile because of my hamstring injury, so I was dying to get back up on stage and teach! The girl I taught with Friday asked me to come to her GRIT class at noon on Saturday. I had no excuse not to go, so I decided to run before the class on Saturday.
I didn’t have as much time as I wanted to run on Saturday before the class, so I fit in 2 miles at home. I was SO happy with these two miles because the second was 20 seconds faster! Woo hoo! Then I drove to the gym and got to GRIT…
Hardest. Class. Ever. GRIT Strength is intense. I can’t even imagine how tough the GRIT Cardio class must be, because I was out of breath the entire class and my heart rate was through the roof! Burpees, push ups, jumps, etc. will do that to you! It is only 30 minutes… because there is no way you could do that for an hour!!
Also, my friend Steph is getting certified to teach BODYATTACK this weekend and it is her Birthday today! So happy for her and I bet she is sore!
The last time I wrote a post, I was battling a hamstring issue. I was really worried, because I had just come up with a little 4 week plan to get me ready for a 5 mile race! After taking a week off from running and almost everything else, it is so much better!! I have been taking it easy and stretching a lot. I started my mini training plan with 2 runs before I messed up my hamstring. I ended up missing 4 runs, but I think I am back on track :)
I had an AWESOME run Saturday morning!!! The weather was amazingggg and I only stopped my watch once to walk for a minute. I love running in the fall!!
Hopefully there will be lots of great runs in my future!
