Spring Workout Schedule

Thursday Workout: 1 hour Zumba and 1 hour BodyPump

I tried a different Zumba class at my gym after school today and I wasn’t really in love with it. I just didn’t think it was intense enough so I’ll have to try a different class in the future. I’ve been keeping to my BodyPump goal of 2-3x a week and went both Tuesday and Thursday this week.  I’m getting close to the amount of weight I was using a few months ago when I was going all the time.

I’ve come up with a workout schedule that I can hopefully stick to this spring.  I will start Hal Higdeon’s Novice 1 Marathon Plan on January 17 and want to continue to go to BodyPump.  If possible, maybe add in yoga on the off days.

I know that I will not be able to go to 3 BodyPump classes each week, but I know this schedule will help me stay flexible so I can move things around when necessary and get to at least two classes.

I used my new Le Creuset dutch oven to make dinner last night.  My Mom got it for me when we moved into the new house.

I made the same Chickpea and Dumplings recipe (Peas and Thank You) that I’ve posted a bunch of times already.  It is so good and easy to make! Doesn’t it look pretty in the red dutch oven? Ina would be so proud…

My Mom and I love the Barefoot Contessa (Food Network) and she always has her Le Creuset dutch ovens in her kitchen looking pretty.

Not really sure where this post is going… but I’m getting tired! I need to hop in the hot tub to make my sore muscles feel good, shower and get to bed! Have a happy Friday!

Mini Vacation

Saturday Workout: BodyPump!!! (1 hour)

Sunday Workout: off day!!

I was so happy to get to my BodyPump class Saturday morning! I start my half marathon plan this week, and my goal is to still take BodyPump 2 times a week.  This was one of my last free weekends without any plans and Colby and I decided to take a trip to his old college Saturday. Even though it was over 100 degrees, it was so nice seeing his campus and meeting friends!

People swimming in the river. We were melting trying to walk around so I could see the nice running paths and sandy beach area!

Love the panoramic function on my Sony camera!

On our way home today, we stopped to visit my friend Matt and went to lunch for his birthday!

Matt just got a Garmin 405 for his birthday and now we are Garmin twinsiessss :)

He is currently training for his first half marathon that will be a trail race in Pittsburgh!! Matt is using the half marathon plan that was in this month’s Runner’s World.

Yum yum yum! We started off with oysters on the half shell and followed with sandwiches. Colby and I feel like we need to do a few extra workouts this week to make up for all the food we ate this weekend!

Ready to start my half marathon plan this week! Even though it starts out with some short runs, it will be perfect for me.  I have not focused on running after the full marathon in May, and have not been running over 20 miles a week in awhile. This plan should get me back into the swing of things and still allow me to cross train with BodyPump class and yoga!

Switching my Tuesday run this week to Monday because I have will be busy all day Tuesday with work!

Saturday Boat Adventure

Yesterday, I woke up at 2:30 AM to leave for Ocean City, MD at 3am with Colby and his family. Crazy, huh?!  I was happy to go on my first fishing adventure.  Surprisingly enough, there are no pictures from the beginning of our adventure before 7 am… hmmm… maybe because I looked like a zombie.

Colby’s Mom and I going out on the water early in the morning. I was very lucky to have her there with me :)

Colby, his brother and dad went out on the sandbar to feel for clams with their feet.  I stayed in the boat :)

We went past wild horses on Assateague Island.

Apparently, I am a huge wimp and hoped to not catch anything because the fish grossed me out.  I guess I’m no Skinny Runner…

I caught a few flounder, but they were too small and went back into the water.  Whenever I caught something I yelled for Colby and he was sweet and took the fishing rod for me as I screamed and ducked for cover so the fish wouldn’t touch me.

I know… he must love me a lot to deal with my diva fishing attitude.

Two more exciting things…

1. Colby and I signed up for an October Half Marathon!! Now I get to pick a training plan!! Any suggestions?

2. I got my capris in the mail!!!!! I will post pictures of me modeling the awesome capris soon!

Today I am BodyPumping with the bff Anne and running!!

I joined a gym!

This is going to be one of the busiest weeks of the year for me! I have school commitments Monday-Thursday night this week and I have no idea how I will fit in a run. Thank goodness I can keep telling myself I am just recovering from the marathon and I can take it easy this week.

After school today I drove over to a local gym that I have been thinking of joining because they had a special membership deal thing going on today. I joined a gym in the Spring of 2009 because I had not worked out for almost a year. I knew my goal was to start running, but I had to do some elliptical first before I could even try running. I ended up getting a Nike+ that summer and slowly got into running over the fall. I would run/walk up to about 5 or 6 miles, but never imagined I would run a half marathon that spring. Later, I upgraded to the Garmin 405 and started running all the time. Since I was getting my cardio from running, it was difficult to get myself to drive to a gym so I could use weight machines. There were no classes offered and I eventually dropped the membership and increased my running mileage.

My goal for this summer is: to incorporate cross-training into my workouts. I haven’t gotten injured from running besides a short IT band issue in December that I fixed with my foam roller and new shoes. I have started yoga at home, but would love to take classes. I decided to join my current gym today because they have a ton of classes and offer yoga, pilates, spinning, and BodyPump! My bff Anne also goes to the gym, so it is our goal to become BodyPump buddies and make ourselves go 2 times a week. Of course, I can’t start this week with all my night commitments and Anne is away this weekend. So I guess our first BodyPump date will be next Tuesday :)

After I joined the gym, I was able to stay at home for an hour and quick eat something. I made a salad with tomatoes, chic peas, cucumber, califlower, carrots and feta cheese. I also made two bean and cheese quesadillas because they are fast and I had tortillas. This held me over for most of the night. Oh, yeah… I also had Tastycakes. I know, I know – not the best for a health blog, but I can’t help it. They are one of my weaknesses.

When I got home just before 10, I went for what was left of my So Delicious Coconut Chocolate “Ice Cream”.

Yes, I finally caved and posted an unflattering picture. I’m sure there will be more. I finished the last 1/3 of the container tonight. No, I didn’t need anymore chocolate or sugar but I had to eat it. This stuff is so good, and I don’t even like ice cream!
I am going to now attempt to do a little yoga tonight so I feel like I did something. I should probably start doing a few push ups to get me ready for BodyPump next week. My arms are so weak!!
