We put down the gym floor we bought the other day!
We moved my treadmill and Colby’s bike trainer and put down the floor (it came on a roll that was 4 ft wide, so there are two pieces). The floor mat is HEAVY and black with white and red specks. It is about 8 ft x 12.5 ft :) I love it and after I post this, I am going downstairs to work out! We also put an old tv, a dvd player and speakers there so I can practice my BODYPUMP!
As I was cleaning some stuff in the basement, I got these new gorgeous weights in the mail! I ordered them at the beginning of the week and they got here within a few days. I order my BODYPUMP equipment through this website – Fitness Body Online. The weights are in LBS instead of KG (like most gyms with BP equipment) At the gym, I have been squating with two large plates (5 kg/11 lbs each). Now I can use two 10 lbs on each side and add on my small 2.5 lbs later when I need an extra push.
I brought down my hand weights (5 and 10 lbs), my foam roller and yoga mats. I had a green Gaiam one from Target that I like and a cheap pink one I ruined by planking with sneakers one time and the mat started falling apart. We were near the one dollar store-type of place called Five Below and I picked up two more cheap yoga mats ($5 each) to keep downstairs. They work well when I keep my sneakers off of them during planks! I’ve also bought resistance bands from Five Below and they also have hand weights that are really nice!
Off to run on my treadmill and do some abs on my new gym floor! BIG GIVEAWAY ON MONDAY :)
Hi everyone! Happy Memorial Day weekend! Saturday morning I had two friends come over to do BODYPUMP 85 at my house. I taught the whole thing with no mistakes and my one friend had never done pump before and she really liked it! I still had to look at the cool down notes though. My other friend has done classes at the gym and has the at home kit like me.
We always talk about our favorite pump instructors from the dvds and her favorite is the very pretty Jericho. I told her I don’t have long flowing red locks to leave down for the workout :) Jericho is all over everything Les Mills lately and I opened up my new BP 86 DVD I got the other day and she was inside too!
Since I passed my initial training, I can now get all the new releases and the new 86 just came out this week. I am trying not to look at it too much. I don’t want to get confused because I still need to tape my full 85 and submit it to Les Mills to be officially certified! I’m hoping to get that done in two weeks :)
My hamstrings were pretty sore from teaching my friends yesterday, so I decided to do an easy 1.5 miles on my treadmill to loosen up my legs, then I did the ab tracks from both 85 and 86 (kinda disappointed with 86 abs..) and practiced the 85 cool down again. I almost have it memorized but I just think it is in a strange order. Then I did my 20 BodyFlow DVD from my Pump kit.
Last night we went to Bonefish Grill for the first time with Colby’s brother and it was amazing! We are seafood fans and this restaurant was great! We shared their bang bang shrimp appetizer and I had a really good house salad.
Then I had their salmon special with goat cheese, spinach, artichoke hearts and lemon basil sauce. I substituted the potatoes for their quinoa salad with tomatoes and edamame. Everything was really good and I would definitely go back!
We also went to see Hangover 3, which was good but never as funny as the 1st movie. Hope you are having a good weekend! I am co-teaching pump again tomorrow morning :)
Look what I got in the mail!!!!!!!!!!
Yep, I decided to just go for it and hopefully get certified to teach BODYPUMP :)
I haven’t blogged this week because I’ve been busy at school and practicing BodyPump as much as possible!
A few weeks ago, I started asking a co-worker that teaches BodyPump about the certification process. I started googling and finding blogs that reviewed the grueling two day initial training weekend and instead of getting scared… I got excited. I contacted a local gym and quickly met with their group fitness instructor. Les Mills offers 2 day workshops to get certified in their classes in various locations. There was one offered very close to me May 18th, but Colby has a sprint triathlon that weekend. The next one within driving distance was 2 hours away and at the end of August after my next school year would already begin. Colby told me to not worry about his race and to do the training May 18/19 at the location only 20 minutes from our house. I know, he’s the best :)
So I signed up and I go to the training next weekend!!!!!!!
I will be using the 85 release (thank goodness!) and was assigned to teach triceps and biceps at the training. Triceps aren’t my strongest muscle group, but I’ve been working out non-stop and trying to get used to heavier weights.
My current weights (if anyone cares!) are below. I use three weights and I keep track of them by saying small, medium and large. Small is 1kg/2.2 lbs, medium is 2.5 kg/5.5lbs and large is 5kg/11 lbs.
Squats: Large+Medium+Small … but I think I’m ready to move up
BodyPump instructors, any weight suggestions? I’m scared I’ll be on the smallest weights that weekend but I’m trying not to stress!
Oh yeah, the training is 9 1/2 hours both Saturday and Sunday :) I’m so excited!!!!
I GOT TO MEET THIS GUY TODAY!!! Sheldon is on the Les Mills “Pump” (At home -BodyPump) DVDS that I bought a few months ago and is basically a major celebrity in my life. When I put in the one DVD for the first time, he mentions he is from PA close to us. I found out from the one principal at my school that teaches BP that he was going to be at a release party for the new BP and CXWORX at her Gold’s gym!! She reserved me, Amy and my friend Kim spots for the classes and it was AWESOME!
First of all, this gym is a million times nicer than the two Gold’s gyms I go to in my area. This one was only 20 minutes away, so I might need to stop there more often this summer! I loved how the mirrors were on every wall and I was reserved a spot up in the front row!
(My set up for the morning) My goal was to GO EASY because I need to run 11 miles this weekend and planned to do it today. Colby has a sprint triathlon tomorrow. Of course I DIDN’T GO EASY because it was just too much fun!! I LOVE THIS CLASS! I went hard since I was up front and didn’t want Sheldon to think I was weak! Now I am running my 11 miles tomorrow afternoon because my legs and arms are still shaking from this morning.
For the 30 minute preview of the new BP (release 85), we did warm up (10 lb on each side), squats (17.5 lbs on each side), chest (7.5 lbs on each side) and lunges (10 lbs in each hand). The lunges were INSANE with jumping squats on and off the bench. I loved it.
The CXWORX 30 minute class did all of the tracks except for one of the standing strengths with the band. The second ab track was intense, just like they always are… Lots of planks and the one track had us running mountain climbers as fast as possible. I was sweating!
Seriously, I’m so happy about this workout. We had such a good time and I want to get certified to teach BodyPump more than every now…
