Okay, I know… I haven’t wrote a post in almost a month! This is the longest I’ve ever gone without blogging, but believe me… I have been wasting lots of time reading other blogs and spending time on Pinterest. To be honest, I’ve been very stressed this month. I’m struggling to keep my sanity. Exercise has offered a great outlet for this stress, especially teaching BODYPUMP. I absolutely love it :) The picture above is our top layer from our wedding cake. We got it out of the freezer for our one year anniversary (October 6) and it was pretty good! Chocolate PB.
The weekend after our anniversary was the Baltimore marathon. Colby and Amy’s husband ran the full marathon. Amy got to run the 5K! I’m so happy her foot injury is becoming a thing in the past!
I thought the start of the Baltimore marathon was very crowded and hectic. It was hard for Colby to get into his corral because they were all so close. He stayed close to the front and said it wasn’t so bad once the race started.
Amy ran the 5K, which was during the marathon. Then we started waiting for the husbands to finish.
We waited by the 26 mile marker because the very finish was so crowded. Colby waved to us, but looked a little tired. I guess that is understandable :)
This was his second fastest marathon and was happy with his time. He did go out a bit faster then he expected (6:40′s!) and ran his fastest 1/2 marathon. He slowed up a bit after 20 and still finished strong.
A day after the marathon we drove to Cape May, NJ for a late anniversary weekend getaway. Yes, I made Colby walk up 200 stairs to the top of that lighthouse :)
This morning Colby decided to run a local 5K. It was colddddd this morning! Amy and I ran 4 miles at the park and Colby killed his race. He wasn’t even planning on doing it until the other day, but he has been running so well lately. There were about 250-300 people and he won the race! First place!! 18:05!
Woo hoo!! Visit Kari’s blog and hopefully she will post about training for this race!!! There is one in Philly in September, so you can sign up for that one Kari!! Congrats!!
I’m guessing I didn’t have that many people enter to win this race entry because it is intimidating? Crawling through mud scares you I guess! I was a little bummed that I didn’t have that many people enter, considering those race fees are pretty expensive (around $100). So for my other random topics in this post, let’s talk about my gym bag…
I saw this bag at Target on sale a few months ago and bought it for the gym. At first, I didn’t like that there were no pockets but it has been really great. I do take my own 5lb weights because they have the open sides that make it so much easier to hold when I teach triceps and shoulders. Our gym has the older model plate with just the center hole, but they just got 10 new SMARTbars!! If you are not a Les Mills person and have no idea what I’m talking about, you can look at their website here. Basically, it is their new bar with awesome weights that slide on and off and have better hand placement for holding the plates. Our gym is going to start teaching Les Mills’ new GRIT class, so they will be using these bars.
My workouts have been very great this week, there just hasn’t been a lot of running. It was really nice out yesterday (under 80 in the morning!) so I ran 4 miles with Colby. I have been to the gym a lot this week teaching pump and taking spin class. I love spin class now!! RPM is a Les Mills class and it is so much fun! I also swam laps at the pool this week too! Here is my workout log.
Our gym had to wait to launch the new Les Mills releases because of GRIT training, so our launch party is tomorrow morning! I am so excited to teach tracks 1-3 for BODYPUMP and take the new CXWORX and COMBAT classes!
We will be launching BODYPUMP 86 and here is a video that shows a sneak peak of each track.
Has anyone used Strava yet? Colby told me about it the other day and I signed up. I haven’t really used it yet, but I was wondering if a lot of people use it? Here is the website for more information.
Last weekend, we went to Ocean City, MD for a quick trip to the beach. It was a little windy at the beach, so after a few hours we decided to lay out at the hotel pool.

I was so happy to get to my BodyPump class Saturday morning! I start my half marathon plan this week, and my goal is to still take BodyPump 2 times a week. This was one of my last free weekends without any plans and Colby and I decided to take a trip to his old college Saturday. Even though it was over 100 degrees, it was so nice seeing his campus and meeting friends!

Matt just got a Garmin 405 for his birthday and now we are Garmin twinsiessss :)
He is currently training for his first half marathon that will be a trail race in Pittsburgh!! Matt is using the half marathon plan that was in this month’s Runner’s World.
Yum yum yum! We started off with oysters on the half shell and followed with sandwiches. Colby and I feel like we need to do a few extra workouts this week to make up for all the food we ate this weekend!
Ready to start my half marathon plan this week! Even though it starts out with some short runs, it will be perfect for me. I have not focused on running after the full marathon in May, and have not been running over 20 miles a week in awhile. This plan should get me back into the swing of things and still allow me to cross train with BodyPump class and yoga!
Switching my Tuesday run this week to Monday because I have will be busy all day Tuesday with work!

I was doing really well trying to stay around a 9:20 pace for the beginning of this run. By the time I reached 3 miles it was sunny and I stopped at a water fountain for a quick break. Then I felt super light headed and ended up taking a little break under some shade. I wanted to run early this morning, but I was being lazy and pushed it until later in the morning, without eating breakfast. I almost ALWAYS eat breakfast before running. I had a cup of coffee this morning and waited way too long before going outside.
I walked 1/2 a mile of mile 4 and the last .25 of mile 6. My average running pace would have been around 9:25 because I was almost always under 9:30, even at the end. So… overall I was happy with it but mad that I didn’t eat something.
I also noticed that the elevation was a little different from South Carolina beach elevation…

Yeah… even though it was at least 10-15 degrees cooler here, the elevation was tougher. Today’s run was my 6-mile loop that I used over and over when training for the Pittsburgh Marathon. I haven’t used this loop in awhile, so it wasn’t as boring as it was in April when I would do it 3 times in a row…
