Attacked by Lizards

Monday Workout: Treadmill walk/run: 3 miles and Ab class/ BodyPump class!

I walked 1 minute, then ran 2.75 miles starting at a 6.3 mph pace then raising it every .25 mile until I reached 7.2 mph! Then I brought it back down and walked the last .25 🙂

I usually never push myself that hard on a treadmill getting over 7 mph, but I am totally capable of doing it. I just need to force myself and get over the mental game of the treadmill mph or the min/mile pace my Garmin says… I know if I push myself and my speed this summer in the heat (and on the treadmill when I’m a baby about the heat!) I will be so much faster in the Fall when the temperatures drop! It happened last year when I was running in the Summer and then got faster in the Fall. I have to realize that I have improved so much in a year. Last summer I was always running over a 10:00 min/mile pace and then finally got into the 9’s in the Fall. That was a huge deal for me! I can’t wait to consistently be in the 8’s! (maybe… someday…)

The weather has been crazy hot at Myrtle Beach, but we are enjoying the beach so much.  This morning we decided to go to the beach early so it wouldn’t be 100 degrees. We were on the beach around 9:30 and I loaded on the sunscreen.

My beach essentials today!

The first day we went to the beach we drove to the boardwalk area and laid out in that area.  It was kinda crowded and difficult to park, so we tried a different spot the past two days.  We went farther away from the boardwalk and parked in the public beach access area near beautiful houses.  The beach was not crowded at all and so much easier to get to in the morning!

Nice pic of the beach with Colby eating chips in the corner 🙂

We left the beach around 12:30 and went to the pool near our condo to cool off… Colby tried to teach me to swim in hopes of making me a triathlete 🙂 I don’t think I would like to wear a swim cap, but you never know! On the way to the pool we almost got attacked by 2 HUGE LIZARDS!!!!! Ok, maybe they were two tiny and kinda cute lizards that ran away from us when we almost stepped on them.  When you are used to seeing fuzzy bunnies and squirrels in PA, lizards always surprise me!

Last night Colby and I went to the Mellow Mushroom Pizza Restaurant because I always see Jen @ Peanut Butter Runner eat there and it looks so good! I had the “Kosmic Karma” pizza and it was SO GOOD!!!! I got the big size so I could take it home and eat it for leftovers today!! Thanks Jen for recommending this pizza!!!

  1. I really want to try mellow mushroom after seeing so many bloggers talk about it, wish we had one around here!

  2. I have two Mellow Mushrooms within 30 minutes of me–oh the horrors! I won’t let myself go because I know I’ll do too much damage. But as soon as my injury heals and I can run again, that might have to be a special treat!! It is SUPER delicious! Glad you’re having a blast and good job on the run!!! 🙂

  3. yummy, yummy! i love cosmic karma!!! hope you’re enjoying your beach vacay. i’m jealous! 😉

  4. okay as glorious as that day at the beach looks, gotta say that pizza is looking even better…yum. 🙂

way to rock that run on the treadmill and you’re totally right: you CAN run that faster pace, our pesky minds usually get in our way but don’t let hold you back. keep up the great work! 🙂

  5. I have been wanting to try mellow mushroom forever, may be this weekend.

Lizards freak me out, big or small!

  6. Oh I am so jealous, I wanna go to the beach. Lizards or not, reading on the beach sounds amazing.

  7. I am completely jealous of you getting to lay by the beach. I would trade those goldfish for some gummy bears though. How do you like Kara Goucher’s book? I ran during my pregnancy and people always said really rude things to me about it. I always just thought, “Kara Goucher’s doing it”, I have been meaning to read that and hear what she says about all of that.

    • It’s good! I didn’t get to the pregnancy section yet but I’m sure there is tons of info. There are some cheesy sections of the book with “ask Kara” questions but overall I think it’s pretty motivating. I think it’s awesome that you ran during your pregnancy!! I would be so frustrated to hear otherwise!
