Rescheduling Runs

Wednesday Workout: 4 mile run

I skipped my Tuesday run!! 😦  I was so busy working in my classroom that I decided to stay until 5 and get a lot of work done.  I rushed home to grab some dinner and headed up to the high school to teach marching band 6-9. By the time I got home, I knew I needed to relax and take care of the 80 unread Google Reader posts on my computer! It is the kid’s first day of school tomorrow and I am really looking forward to seeing all the little faces 🙂

A few of my favorite bloggers I met at HLS!

Absolutely loved meeting and hanging out with Steph, Alli and Kristy this past weekend 🙂

Another pic with me and Steph @ Food and Fitness 4 Real

Pic from Kristy @ Run The Long Road

Very excited to meet Tina! I love her Body After Baby pictures!

Allison @ Happy Tales!

I was SO excited to meet Tina and have my Carrots N Cake book signed!

And I was crazy excited to meet Julie! I’ve been reading Peanut Butter Fingers for over a year and it was one of the very first blogs I ever found! She was just as sweet as I imagined and it made my day 🙂

Another busy day, but I am determined to fit in my run after school before another band rehearsal at night. I am really looking forward to running and BodyPump on Thursday (I haven’t been to Pump in a week!) and rescheduling my Tuesday run that I missed to Friday.

Do you ever switch up your training plan or do you feel like you need to stick to the specific days? I aim to run on Tues, Weds, Thurs, Sat but sometimes I move them around for the week when I get busy!

  1. I switch up my plans all the time. I think it’s actually going to be funny to look at my training plan before this 10K and after b/c they look almost nothing alike. I still hit my mileage goals but I end up moving things all around depending on my schedule. You got to meet some of my favs! Looks like a fun time!

  2. Sorry your Tuesday turned out to be so hectic. Hope all the kids and you have a great first day! I always switch things up. It helps my body not to get too comfortable with one routine. I’m very excited to check out all the new blogs of people that you have met at HLS!

  3. I used to stick to running after work on Mon, Tues and Thurs – and took Wed and Friday to rest. But lately I’ve been experiementing with morning runs and fitting more cross training days/shorter runs in throughout the week. I think the variety makes the week more exciting!

I think a surprise rest day is a good thing, sometimes you just need a break and from the sound of your schedule – you needed one!

  4. I hate situtating days but sometimes you got to and just have to live with it. What amazing pictures. So fuN!

  5. i absolutely loveeed meeting you. and i want your hair. 🙂

hopefully we’ll get to meet again soon!!!

  6. Hey! It was nice meeting you at the HLS. Your pretty pink card pops out at me when I open my wallet 🙂

I totally reschedule runs. Yesterday was supposed to be a cross-training day but some friends called me up to do 7 miles…it’s good to not let a strict schedule get in the way of real life 🙂 Have fun getting back into school! I’m a little nervous about the last two weeks of half-marathon training overlapping with the first two weeks of classes!!

  7. You and Julie look adorable!! You’re hair is almost matching! Haha!!

I try to stick to my training plan, but sometimes it just doesn’t work out. My runs are scheduled for Mon, Wed, and Sat. But lately I’ve been doing more like Mon, Thurs, Sat workouts. That actually might be better for me though because most Wednesdays I just can’t get myself out the door! I figure as long as I get in my 3 runs a week, I’ll be fine. 🙂

  8. I have never actually done a work out plan! I like to do whatever I am in the mood for. Is this probably the best kind of work out? No. Oh well.. maybe one day!

  9. Hope you had a wonderful first day of school. Where did you get your cardigan? It is so cute and I want one 🙂 I always have flexibility in my workouts, you never know what life, work, commuting and stuff like that will get in the way.

  10. Beautiful pics! I can’t believe you’re not wearing pink! 😉 I haven’t done a training plan as I haven’t “trained” for a specific event yet. I just keep working out and doing my thing based on what my body is telling me or asking for!

  11. i reschedule runs all the time…hey, life gets in the way sometimes! i just try and make sure i’m following a hard day with an easy day.

it’s funny scrolling through your post and seeing a picture of myself. i totally look hungover 😉

  12. shmeeeeeeee!!! WHAT a wonderful surprise to see my face in the lineup of people you met! I can’t say it enough: you are SWEETHEART and I loved meeting you and chatting with you this weekend!!!!

Switching up training days? Well, I don’t really have a schedule. The only “schedule” i follow for my marathon training is a longrun on the weekend… and as long as I get it done (i have 3 days to pick from: fri, sat, and sunday) I’m golden! I have just plain ‘ole skipped a run, though… doesn’t bother me in the least!
